Cherry Blossoms – Ogawa Suwa Shrine

Tucked away in the tranquil countryside of Iwaki City, Ogawa Suwa Shrine (小川諏訪神社) is a peaceful and sacred place, cherished by the local community. In early spring, this modest shrine becomes the stage for one of the most graceful and photogenic cherry blossom scenes in the region—thanks to its stunning weeping cherry tree (shidarezakura).

On April 9, 2025, the tree reached full bloom, draping the shrine grounds in soft, flowing layers of pale pink blossoms. The long, elegant branches of the weeping cherry cascade toward the earth like a floral waterfall, moving gently in the spring breeze. With the torii gate and traditional shrine architecture in the background, the scene captures a timeless harmony between nature and Shinto tradition.

Unlike the larger, more crowded sakura spots in Japan, Ogawa Suwa Shrine offers a calm, intimate hanami experience. Visitors can walk slowly through the grounds, admire the tree up close, and reflect in the peaceful atmosphere. Whether you’re a photographer, a nature lover, or simply seeking quiet beauty, this hidden gem invites you to experience cherry blossoms in their most serene and spiritual form.
