Fukushima Travel – Fukushima Dashi Festival

On May 24, the heart of Fukushima City pulsed with the rhythm of drums, flutes, and spirited chants as the annual Fukushima Dashi Festival took over National Route 13 (Shinobu-dori Avenue). Sixteen beautifully decorated festival floats (dashi) from five cities and towns — Fukushima, Nihonmatsu, Date, Koori, and Kawamata — paraded through the streets, bringing together the cultural soul of northern Fukushima.

Each float was accompanied by vibrant traditional music (ohayashi) passed down through generations, as locals in colorful happi coats pulled the dashi through the city, calling out with lively voices. The atmosphere was electric, celebrating both community pride and timeless craftsmanship.

⚔️ Special Samurai Performance

Adding to the excitement, the Samurai performance group “Aibudo Gojin”, based in Shimogo Town, gave a powerful live performance. Their dynamic swordplay and expressive dance brought ancient warrior spirit into the modern-day festival — a unique blend of history, art, and energy that left the crowd in awe.
