From July 11 to 13, 2026, Isasumi Shrine in Aizumisato Town, Fukushima Prefecture, held its annual Otaue Festival, one of Japan’s Three Great Rice Planting Festivals.

One of the most charming performances is the Saotome Dance, performed by the eldest sons of local farming families dressed as Saotome. This unique tradition has been passed down for generations and reflects the strong bonds between agriculture, family, and local culture.
