Fukushima Travel – Wild Radish Wonderland

Kaneyama Town in Fukushima’s Oku-Aizu region is home to a hidden gem: the wild Azaki Daikon fields blooming in early summer. This unique feature makes it a must-visit destination for any Travel tour through Fukushima.

🌸 What Is Azaki Daikon?

  • Azaki Daikon is a native wild radish species, about 20 cm long, known for its intense spiciness. Local tradition says its name comes from “deceive” (azakeru), because unlike typical daikon, it has inedible roots—only appreciated for its sharp lip-tingling flavor .

  • From late May to early June, the fields on Taro-bu Plateau burst into a sea of pale lavender flowers—truly a photogenic marvel .

📍 Best Spots & How to Get There

  • The main blooming fields are located at Taro-bu Plateau, about a 15-minute drive from JR Aizu-Kawaguchi Station .

  • Accessible by car from Ban-Etsu Expressway’s Aizu-Bange IC (40–50 min), or via local taxi and bus transfers.

  •
